BIO

I’m the investigations/projects editor for McClatchy’s South Carolina newspapers. Our statewide team produces deeply reported stories. The work has changed S.C. law to protect those with traumatic brain injuries, improved highway safety, brought transparency to the state’s earmark process, identified human trafficking in massage parlors, exposed health care disparities for Black residents and more. I’m passionate about local journalism that holds those in power accountable and improves the lives of readers.

Previously, I’ve worked as the editor of an editorial board, chased hurricanes and bad guys (but not at the same time) and worked just about every beat a reporter can. Except a sports beat. I know very little about sports, unfortunately!

But during my 20-plus years in journalism, I received the most attention for catching a governor as he attempted to sneak back into the country after visiting his paramour in Argentina. He had misled the public into thinking he was hiking the Appalachian Trail.
